Built on the beach-front road at Te Horo Beach on the Kapiti Coast , the bach was designed by Sam Kebbell and John Daish in 2001. The bach is available for short-term rent. It is serviced and a continental breakfast is provided for the duration of your stay.
In keeping with the spirit of Te Horo's low-key seaside community, the bach is a sturdy little block house perched on the side of a sand dune (one row back from the beach) with views of the sea, and Kapiti Island from upstairs. The bach enjoys all day sun and with some windows stretching to double height it is a really light and warm place to spend time in - any time of the year.
The following are included in the nightly rate:
Quality bed linen; bathroom towels (but not beach towels); and a continental breakfast ( eg homemade muesli, fresh and poached organic fruit, yoghurt, tea and freshly ground coffee, homemade jams and a selection of breads, croissants and bagels). The bach is thoroughly cleaned after your stay and the kitchen is completely restocked so all you need to do is tidy up, pack your bags and be in your way.
The kitchen, dining and living spaces are combined downstairs with a mezzanine bedroom above (queen size bed and wardrobe). A cleverly designed louvre over one window, and a light curtain over the opposite window, allow for generous views to the north and south while ensuring noone can see in (giving you privacy from the bach's lawn and neighbouring houses). While the bach is best suited to two adults the fold out sofa in the living room can be used to sleep extra friends or family. The kitchen contains an oven/stove, a fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and cooking equipment for preparing meals. The bathroom, a washing machine and study area are downstairs. The woodburner is set up ready for your arrival and keeps the bach toasty in winter (firewood is provided). The TV and DVD player are handy if you're planning a night in so feel free to bring a movie with you. And CDs – there is a stereo with radio/CD player in the bach too.
Please note: the bach is strictly non-smoking.
The bach is surrounded by lawn, some flat and some sloping down towards the beach. A portable barbecue and outdoor furniture are provided for warm days and nights outside in the summer. Just a 2 minute walk to the beach, so remember to bring your togs and walking shoes.
The bach is a modern, peaceful and relaxed place to work or play in. For a quiet getaway on a weekend or a few days work away from the office, we trust you will enjoy your stay.
